Summer Day-Camp Guide Near Eastmark 2023
There are various types of day-camps near the Eastmark area to keep your kids engaged all summer long! Below is a noncomprehensive list of summer camps in the area:
As You Wish Summer Classes – As You Wish Pottery Painting Place is doing its weekly summer instructional classes again this year. The cost is only $25 per class, all inclusive, and open to children ages 5 and older. Classes run from 9:00am to 10:30am on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting June 6 (excluding the week of July 4) and ending July 20. Classes are available at the Chandler, Desert Ridge, Mesa, Tempe, and Westgate locations of As You Wish across Arizona. Some of this year’s crafts include a dinner plate, popcorn bowl, different styles of money banks, mugs, and boxes. Sign up online to reserve your spot and check out photos of the craft options.
Burst of Butterflies Art Summer Camp – Another pottery painting shop in downtown Chandler is hosting a Summer Art Camp in 2023. This program is for ages 5 to 9 in morning sessions from 9:30am to 12:30pm and ages 10 to 14 in afternoon sessions from 12:30 to 4:30pm. Each week will have a different camp theme and will encourage campers to gain new skills and create several projects. Art mediums will include clay, acrylic painting, watercolor painting, pottery painting, glass fusing, polymer clay sculpting, mosaics, and more! Classes are currently available for $185.00 per week. USA Kids Camp – USA Gymnastics Kids Camp is an action-packed way to keep kids active over the hot summer months. With locations in both Gilbert and Queen Creek, full day camps are available for ages 5 to 12. All camps are planned with nonstop activities that include group games, special guests, crafts, open gym, weekly themes, trampoline, dance, foam pits, dress up days, obstacle courses, and more! Full day campers can either bring a lunch or purchase one from the USA café for about $6. Early drop off and late pick up options are also available. The summer camp runs for 8 weeks from May 29 to July 21 from 9am to 3:30pm (early drop off opens at 6:30am and late pick up is open until 6pm). Rates start at $65 per day or $250 for the week. High School Summer Pass – Planet Fitness locations across the state will be offering free gym passes for teens between the ages of 14 and 19 so they can work out for free all summer! Pre-registration is available on the Planet Fitness website now and teens can download their free digital club pass on the PF App starting May 15 through August 31. The pass is good for use any time at the location the participant signs up for online or in person and is not permitted for use across locations. There are gym locations in Northeast Mesa, Gilbert Gateway, Queen Creek, Gilbert Greenfield Lakes, and Apache Junction. Planet Fitness will also award the top 10 schools with participants on their leaderboard with a $10,000 grant and High School Summer Pass participants can also submit a video for a chance to win a $10,000 scholarship.
Nike Soccer Camp – Nike’s Soccer Camp will take place at Rancho Solano Prep School in Scottsdale at their world-class Athletic Complex and Student Activities Center. The camp is a fun skill development camp that will focus on player development. Players will work to master proper fundamentals and techniques and is a great opportunity for players to learn a mix of drills, games, and competitive play. Campers are grouped by age, ability, and experience. Campers should bring soccer cleats, shin guards, athletic shoes, and water/lunch. Included in the camp fee are a Nike Soccer Camp t-shirt and prizes. Instruction takes place on field and indoors to avoid the heat. This camp is for ages 8-14 (grades 3 through 8) and it runs June 5-9 for co-ed soccer players from 9am to 3pm. The cost is $365.00 for the week.
Nerding STEM Summer Camp – Nerding Summer Camp is hosting its STEM classes for kids again this summer. These weekly Summer STEM classes will be held from June 5 to July 7 (except July 4) on the Gilbert Eduprize Campus. The camps this year will feature tons of exciting hands-on activities split into grade levels. Grades 1-3 will learn about coding mini games, dino discovery, robotics, secrets of slime, rocks, sound labs, space exploration, and zoology. Grades 4-7 will explore 3D printing, wizard science, robotics, graphic design, virtual reality, physics, and more! Weekly classes are purchased individually for $195 with an all-day pass for $390 when you sign up for a morning 9:00 to 12:00 class and an afternoon 1:00 to 4:00 class. Camp Innovation – Arizona Science Center – The Arizona Science Center will also be doing Camp Innovation at the Science Center in downtown Phoenix. These 5-day camp sessions will help spark curiosity in science through hands-on programs. The classes will run from June 5 to July 28 from 9am to 4pm. Pricing is $260 for members and $295 for non-members per week of 5-day classes. Classes are split up by grades and include topics such as coding, Arizona desert climate, NASA Astro Camp, Lego Engineering, World Records, Ancient Egypt, and tech trends. Space is limited, so check online for class availability.
Summer Reading Programs – The Maricopa County Library networks are doing a Summer Reading Program that the whole family can participate in! Starting June 1 through August 1, all readers have the opportunity to earn prizes and connect with other book lovers over the summer. Readers get points for reading 20 minutes a day in June and July and get rewards at the 500, 750, and 1000 points levels. Prizes include Lou Malnati’s pizza coupons, Peter Piper Pizza coupons, Raising Cane’s beverage coupons, AZ State Parks Passes, Phoenix Mercury tickets, and a free book, not to mention other fun raffle prizes and giveaways. Parents can participate too! Sign up online and visit your local library branch to see how you can get a kid’s gameboard and gain extra points for attending events and doing extra challenges throughout your city.
City of Mesa – The City of Mesa will be hosting weekly camps for children from kindergarten through 5th grade this summer. The Summer Escape and Summer Adventure programs can be signed up for weekly on the City of Mesa website. The Summer Adventure camp will run from 7am to 6pm Monday through Friday at the Rhodes Junior High campus. The cost for this camp is $132 for Mesa residents and $159 for non-residents for the week. The Summer Escape camp runs from 8am to 5:30pm and has several campuses including the Eagles Community Center and the Webster Recreation Center and the cost is $100 for residents and $120 for non-residents per week. Both of these full day camps will entertain campers with board games and activities, arts and crafts, conduct experiments, host special guests, and travel once a week via bus for swimming and a field trip. The City of Mesa also offers Teen Leadership Training during the duration of the summer camps for ages 13-19. This volunteer position offers participants training, work experience, and opportunities to learn and practice life skills. Mesa Arts Center Youth Camps – Mesa Arts Center also has camp offerings throughout the summer. The topics will vary from week to week through June and July and include things like Jewelry and Enameling Camp, Digital Storytelling, Animation Camp, Black & White Photography Camp, Clay in the Kitchen, Teen Blacksmithing, Creation (painting, clay sculpting, etc.), Art Glass, Architectural Design, and Theater. Some camps are age specific and range from 1-day classes to 8-day classes, so check online for more specifics and for registration. Cost ranges from $143-$275 depending on the length of the classes.
Falcon Field Airport Aviation Camp – The Falcon Field Airport in Mesa is hosting Aviation Camp, a 2-week adventure for 7th, 8th, or 9th grade students interested in exploring flight and related activities and careers. Activities will include computer simulators, field trips, guest speakers, and more. The camp will run for 4 days a week from May 30 to June 8 from 8:00am to 12:00pm with a special flying event on Saturday, June 3. The cost is $285 for the 2-week camp and registration can be done online.
Aerospace Academy – A similar camp will take place in the same weeks, May 30 to June 8 from 8:00am to 12:00pm at Kino Junior High School for students in the 6th or 7th grades. Aerospace Academy will also feature computer simulators, field trips, a giant moon map, and guest speakers. The cost for this camp is $275 and registration is also available online.
Camp Level Up – Camp Level Up is a camp for neurodivergent students in grades 6 through 12 that enjoy video games and game design. The camp will be held at the new ASU Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) Center at the Mesa City Center in downtown Mesa. The sessions will run from June 26 through July 19 from 9am to 12pm and will be led by an educational gaming company called Endless Studios. Campers will have the opportunity to create their own games and media experiences with a community of like-minded peers. Each 3-hour session will be filled with instruction and mentored collaborative work, guest speakers, and enrichment experiences. Aftercare is available for an additional $150 and the cost for the camp is $300 per student for the 3 weeks. Sign up is available online.
City of Chandler – The City of Chandler is also offering some summer camp and mini-camp options during the summer months. One of the available camps includes Adventures in Art Camp, which runs through the chosen week from 1:00pm to 3:00pm for children ages 6 to 12. This camp will foster creativity with cartooning and drawing featuring various specialties like Manga/Anime, Latin America, Character Creation, Rock, Pirates, and Zoo themes. The cost for this camp is $116 for residents and $157 for non-residents. Another Chandler Camp is Bricks 4 Kidz LEGO Camp for kids ages 5 to 13 and will explore worlds of Dinosaurs, Minecraft, Batman and more! The campers will learn science, technology, engineering, and math concepts while building and playing with LEGO materials. The cost for this camp is $180 for residents and $243 for non-residents. Challenge Island – Road Trip Camp will run from July 10 through July 14 for kids ages 5 to 13 and gives campers the opportunity to be placed on a thematic island and conquer challenges to solve and introduce your child to the world of engineering. The cost for the week of this camp is $195 for residents and $264 for non-residents. And Krafty Kids Mini Camps will take place from June 5 to 7 and June 12 to 14 from 12:00pm to 1:30pm or 2:00pm to 3:30pm. Perfect for kids ages 6 to 13, campers will fold, bedazzle, and craft accessories from colorful bracelets to lotions and lip glosses. Fees for the mini-camps are $50 for residents and $57 for non-residents. Sign up is available for all these classes online.
Chandler Children’s Choir Summer Camp – Chandler’s Children’s Choir is hosting a summer camp this year geared to kids who like to sing, dance, and make new friends. This weeklong camp runs from June 19-23 from 9am to 3pm daily and is for kids ages 6 through 15, any experience level is welcome. The campers will learn music and explore choreography that concludes in a showcase performance at the end of the week. The camp will be held at the Tempe Preparatory Academy and the cost is $215 for the week – and includes a shirt! Sign up online.
Chandler Center for the Arts – Chandler Center for the Arts is hosting a summer youth program for kids looking for a creative and engaging place to spend the summer. These camps will teach attendees about the process of putting on a musical production from auditioning, stage blocking, character analysis, line memorization, songs, and choreography. The program is designed for children ages 7 to 14 with each camp culminating with a performance on one of the stages at the Center for the Arts. The camp runs from 9am to 3:30pm with aftercare available until 4:30pm for $15 per day. The camps run May 30 – June 16, June 19-23 and June 26 -30 and you can sign up online for $225 per week.
Dance Connection 2 Summer Camp – Dance Connection 2 in Chandler is hosting 2 weeks of Summer fun in June. The first Summer Camp runs June 12-15 and June 19-22 from 9:30an to 12:30pm for dancers ages 6 and up. These classes will cover hip hop, pom, and jazz styles and are $160 per week or $300 for both weeks. For dancers between the ages of 3 and 5, Tutus Camp will also be running June 12-15 and June 19-22 from 9:30am to 11:30am with special weekly themes of Princess Party and Barbie Fun in the Sun. The cost for Tutus Camp is $125 per week or $200 for both weeks. Registration is open online for both camps.
Summer Dance Camp – Another dance studio in Chandler, Just Dance, is hosting a Summer Dance Camp for varying ages as well. For dancers ages 7 to 10, the first week is June 19-23 from 1pm to 4pm and the theme is Broadway Dance Camp, featuring songs from favorite Broadway musicals, crafts, and storytelling. The second week for the 7 to 10 age group is July 10-14 from 1pm to 4pm with the theme Popstar Dance Camp, where campers will learn hip hop and jazz styles as well as sing along to JoJo Siwa, High School Musical, and more. For the younger group of dancers ages 3 to 6, their first week of June 19-23 runs from 9am to 12pm and is a Princess Dance Camp featuring lots of dancing, singing, crafts and princess magic. The second week for ages 3 to 6 is also July 10-14 from 9am to 12pm in a Movie Magic Dance Camp theme featuring SING and other favorites. Pricing if $135 per session for the full week. Town of Gilbert – In Gilbert, there are several day camp offerings spanning a variety of interest levels. There will be several Bonanza LEGO STEM classes throughout the summer for kids ages 6 to 14. Cactus Yards will host a Multi-Sports Camp for kids ages 6 to 11 from June 26 to 30 from 10am to 12pm that will emphasize fun, skill development, and good sportsmanship. Another Muli-Sports Camp hosted by University of Oregon and NFL alum Jordan Kent will run from June 19 to June 22 from 9am to 3pm. This camp is for children ages 6 to 12 that want to participate in agility training, wacky games, daily life skills, and nutrition education. Movie Star Camp will be at the Southeast Region Library from June 26 to June 30 from 9am to 3pm. Campers will learn the art of on-camera acting, improvisational acting, and script writing concluding with a fall movie premiere of their work on September 20. Performing Arts Camp will also be at the Southeast Regional Library from June 5 to June 16 from 2pm to 2:30pm, where students ages 8 to 17 will explore theater arts and practice monologues, singing, and performing. Riparian Preserve – The Riparian Preserve will host a group of camps this summer at the nearby Southeast Regional Library. Various topics include Around the World, Critters and Crawlies, Desert Survival, Dinosaur Dance Party, Sizzling Summer STEAM, and Desert Water. Each of the camps will run from 8:30am to 12:00pm for a full week throughout the summer. Campers will participate in an early outdoor hike or activities, crafts, and educational sessions. The cost for these is $108 per week and can be signed up online.
School of Rock – School of Rock in Gilbert is again running camps throughout the summer. First, Rock 101 Camp starts May 30 and runs through June 2 from 9am to 3pm each day. This camp is ideal for beginners ages 7 to 12, no experience necessary as students will explore their instruments through musical games and activities. The total for this camp is $475 for the week. Then throughout the summer, each week will feature a new theme for a total of $595 for the week-long camp from 9am to 3pm. June 5-9 is Pop Punk Camp, June 12-16 is Classic Rock Rewind Camp, June 19-23 is Best of the 90s Camp, June 26-30 is Songwriting and Recording Camp, July 10-14 is Greenday Camp, and July 17-21 is Songwriting and Recording Camp. Six Pixels Summer Camp – A Six Pixels Summer Camp will be hosted at Power Ranch in Gilbert from June 19-23 from 9am to 5pm. This camp is perfect for kids ages 7 to 13 who would like a behind-the-scenes look at movie making. It takes attendees behind the scenes as they learn how to produce their own short films and learn the process of creating original stories, directing, camera operation, sound and editing. Camp tuition is $300 and online registration is available.
