Spring Activities 2021
With the weather getting nice and spring break right around the corner, here are some family friendly and pandemic safe activities for the Spring.
Hiking Adventures
Now more than ever, it is a great time to hit the trails and enjoy the beauty of the Arizona mountains. Some easy trailheads nearby that are great for kids and novice hikers looking to enjoy the spring weather include Silly Mountain, Usery Mountain Regional Park, and San Tan Mountain Regional Park. Silly Mountain in Apache Junction is a great place to start for a short yet enjoyable hike. All the trails are well-marked and there is plenty of parking at the trailheads. Usery Mountain Regional Park in Mesa is currently open 6am to 8pm and includes 3,648 acres of park to hike and mountain bike. San Tan Regional Park to the south in Queen Creek is currently open daily 6am – 8pm and includes 10,000 arces of the lower Sonoran Desert and is also great for both hiking and mountain biking in its 1400 – 2300 feet of elevation. For any hikes, it’s important to remember to bring plenty of water.
MLB’s Pitch, Hit and Run Event
Another fun activity taking place this spring in partnership with the City of Mesa is the MLB Pitch, Hit, and Run event at the Red Mountain Softball Complex. The event will be held on Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm based on the competition age group. Tickets must be purchased in advanced and range from $8 to $20 for a double feature and $5 to $15 for a single movie. Movies will begin at 6:30pm for double features and at 7:00pm for single movies , with a 20 min intermission between movies for double features. The schedule of movies is below:
